Cardovin is not a blood-pressure medicine
The label carries SAHPRA’s Category D wording: the product is an unregistered health supplement that has not been evaluated for quality, safety or intended use. In plain terms, nobody has shown that these capsules do anything for blood pressure.
High blood pressure is managed with the treatment your doctor or clinic sister prescribed, regular readings and everyday habits — less salt, more walking, no smoking, less alcohol. If you want to add a supplement, it goes on top of that plan, with your doctor aware of it.

How much Cardovin costs in South Africa
A bottle is R649 for 30 capsules. The label says one capsule three times a day, so one bottle runs out after 10 days. That is a short course — keep that in mind when you compare it with anything else you buy for the month.

What is in Cardovin (South African formula)
Five ingredients are printed on the bottle, with the amount in each capsule. Three capsules a day means you take three times these amounts daily. We describe each ingredient neutrally; none of them has a proven effect on blood pressure in this product.
Moringa 250 mg
Moringa oleifera
Leaf powder of the “drumstick tree”, eaten as a green vegetable in many African kitchens.
Hibiscus extract 100 mg
Hibiscus sabdariffa
Roselle calyx extract — the plant behind the tart red tea sold here as a caffeine-free infusion.
Passion fruit extract 50 mg
Passiflora edulis
Extract of the purple granadilla plant, the passion fruit grown in Mpumalanga and Limpopo gardens.
Grape seed extract 50 mg
Vitis vinifera
Extract from the seeds of the wine grape, a common ingredient in supplement blends.
Vitamin D3 330 IU
cholecalciferol

Warnings: who should avoid Cardovin
Do not stop or adjust your blood-pressure medication — amlodipine, enalapril, losartan, hydrochlorothiazide or anything else — without your doctor.
- Under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding: do not use.
- Hibiscus can add to the effect of blood-pressure medicines, and may interact with hydrochlorothiazide.
- Grape seed extract: care with blood thinners and anti-platelet drugs (warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel). Tell your surgeon or dentist before any operation.
- Passion fruit extract: may make you drowsy. Do not combine with sleeping tablets, other sedatives or alcohol, and be careful when driving.
- Vitamin D3: with thiazide diuretics calcium can build up in the blood. Do not add other vitamin D products without your doctor.
- Bovine gelatin capsule — not for vegetarians or vegans; halaal or kosher status is not stated.
- Allergies: may contain traces of nuts and milk. Stop if you react to any ingredient, and check your blood pressure regularly.
When to see a doctor
The figures below are warning levels, not something any supplement produces. A reading of 180/120 mmHg or above means you need medical care urgently. If it comes with chest pain, difficulty breathing, sudden weakness or numbness on one side, slurred speech, blurred vision or a severe headache, call an ambulance now: 10177, or 112 from a cellphone.
What the research shows
Cardovin itself has never been studied. Looking at supplements in general, the US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health notes that the research is limited, any effects found are small, and no supplement matches the medicines prescribed for hypertension. That is why the label calls it an unevaluated Category D product — and why your doctor should stay in charge of treatment.

- Seller: be wary of the same name offered on social media at a very different price or in another pack size.

Does Cardovin cure high blood pressure?
No. It is a Category D health supplement that has not been evaluated by SAHPRA and is not meant to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Can I take it with my blood-pressure tablets?
Ask your doctor or pharmacist first. Hibiscus may add to the effect of those tablets, vitamin D3 does not mix well with thiazide diuretics, and grape seed matters if you use blood thinners.
Can I stop my medication?
No. Only your doctor can change your treatment. Stopping blood-pressure medication on your own can be dangerous.
Is Cardovin in South Africa the same as in Nigeria?
No. It shares the name, but the Nigerian version is a different formula made in India with a different dose. Everything on this page refers to the South African bottle from Pretoria.
Is it suitable for vegetarians?
